Date(s) - Sunday, December 9
2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Join politically motivated locals who regularly use Indivisible’s guide in penning letters and signs. Write or make mail art to whomever you want – it feels good and is tangible action.
This Sunday PenCon will be making cards for people in camps at the Tijuana border. Several members of Pen Connection also help with the Immigration Advocacy Collaborative. We’ve been very involved with getting much needed humanitarian supplies across the border, which it turns out is very hard to accomplish. With official connections we are able to get cards into the emergency centers, where people could use some cheering up and offerings of basic human solidarity. We made such cards for kids separated from their families, now we also make them for kids and their families. This is a nice chance to take a breath from political postcards and just make beautiful things with love. We have Spanish translations.
• Meets most Sundays
• We have writing supplies to share but can always use more stamps, cool pens, collage materials, etc, if you’ve get em!
• Coming for the beginning and bringing snacks are highly encouraged, but not terribly important.
• We try to strike a balance between discussion with solo writing time. There’s plenty of room for composing thoughts, but you may want to bring headphones 😉
• Write or make mail art to whomever you want. It feels good and is tangible action.
