Date(s) - Sunday, August 18
2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Join politically motivated locals who regularly use Indivisible’s guide in penning letters and signs. Write or make mail art to whomever you want – it feels good and is tangible action. We are always interested in new resources and addresses.
Welcome new writers! We are patting ourselves on the back for completing cards to our Detainee Allies list to around 300 asylum seekers! We made some beautiful things being received in the mail by people who could really use moral support. Thanks everyone who did this! Also last week the crew made 50 postcards to voters in the special North Carolina congressional race. (We will be doing more of these, especially as we get into 2020.)
We hope you’ll join us for a new, important effort. We’ll be making cards of support for students in El Paso. From what I know so far, this is fairly simple yet open for interpretation. If you want to get started see the addresses below. You can also start drawing or decorating the names of the 3 schools and finish cards on Sunday. We have a bunch of heart collaged cards started that I’m excited to use for this as well.
• Meets most Sundays
• We have writing supplies to share but can always use more stamps, cool pens, collage materials, etc, if you’ve get em!
• Coming for the beginning and bringing snacks are highly encouraged, but not terribly important.
• We try to strike a balance between discussion with solo writing time. There’s plenty of room for composing thoughts, but you may want to bring headphones 😉
• Write or make mail art to whomever you want. It feels good and is tangible action.
