Iran Stomped Trump & Hegseth & Bibi

“On the other hand, if the poor, unlettered toilers are given no political power, and are kept by exploitation in poverty, they will remain submerged unless rescued by revolution…” W. E. B. Du Bois, Black Reconstruction in America, 1860-1880

Don’t be fooled by the full-court press of lies coming from Trump’s White House: the Orange Menace lost his War of Choice against Iran. Don’t take my word for it, read the much ballyhooed “Memorandum of Understanding” for yourself. Trump got nothing of value. Trump got rolled. Trump capitulated.

The juvenile stupidity is simply gob-smacking. If you recall, in the first few days after February 28, Trump and his nitwit Secretary of Defense, Pete “Whisky & Jesus” Hegseth, were gloating like schoolboys, bragging about killing Iran’s Supreme Leader and other high-ranking military and intelligence officials, sinking Iran’s navy (never formidable to begin with), and dominating the skies over Tehran. It was all USA! USA! Shock & Awe Boo-yah. The killing of innocent Iranian civilians, including nearly 200 school children, was brushed off as unfortunate collateral damage. The US and Israel — never forget Israel’s role in dragging Trump into this failed endeavor — hammered Iran with cruise missiles and other high-powered ordnance. By some estimates the US flew 13,000 air sorties, bombing runs in other words, and in those giddy first days Trump claimed total victory. Iran was finished, on its knees, its missiles and air defenses and drones “obliterated.”

Total victory. The Great & Powerful USA had once again demonstrated its enormous military might. FAFO bleated Hegseth, America negotiates with bombs! Trump declared that he held all the cards, Iran had none and should raise a white flag.

And then reality struck. Iran launched retaliatory missile strikes against its neighbors and Israel, it shot down American fighter jets and destroyed millions of dollars worth of American hardware deployed in the region, the defensive shield built to protect America’s “friends and allies,” Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, the UAE, Qatar. So much for Iran being prostrate. But the Iranian response was only getting started. Iran then played its geographic ace by closing the vital Strait of Hormuz, an act predicted in decades of US war games, by top military analysts, academics and think tank mandarins. Trump was said to be shocked by this obvious maneuver. Of course Dumb Donny was shocked, he thought Iran would go the way of Venezuela, a quick in and out, kill the Supreme Leader and watch the Islamic Republic collapse.

Fantasy created by ignorance and hubris. America never learns. Trump is incapable of learning. So convinced of his own greatness and infallibility, Trump never bothered to prepare the country for war, nor did he bother informing our allies; he launched the war first and then sold it as necessary, an ass-backwards approach that was doomed from the start. Trump’s Persian Gulf “excursion” cost at least thirteen American lives, with hundreds injured, and billions of our taxpayer dollars wasted on an illegal war never authorized by Congress, an unpopular war that drove up the cost of gasoline and fueled a spike in inflation. What did we-the-people get in return? Nothing. The people never get anything from these idiotic wars. The only winner is the military-industrial-surveillance-technology complex. As usual.

Don’t be fooled. The chances of the agreement holding for six days, let alone sixty, are slim. Our bosom ally and forever friend, the State of Israel, will do everything possible to undermine the agreement, just as it tried to undermine the 2015 JCPOA, negotiated with skill and expertise by serious people from the Obama Administration. Though a cessation of Israel’s bombing of Lebanon is part of the MOU, who’s going to stop Israel from bombing Lebanon? Donald Trump? Please.

In four months, the war Trump and Netanyahu started reached a point where the costs to the region, the global economy and US domestic political scene were too high to continue. Trump’s press conference at the G7 meeting in France was absolutely batshit as he denied practically every point in the proposed MOU, including $300 billion in reconstruction funding, sanctions relief and curtailment of Iran’s nuclear program.

Thirteen Americans dead, several hundred injured. Billions of taxpayer dollars wasted. Nothing achieved. Think about that. Regime change? Nope. Iran’s missiles and drones neutralized? No. Iran’s nuclear program derailed? No. Iran’s geopolitical stature improved? Yes. The murderous and kleptocratic theocratic regime that has oppressed the Iranian people for almost half a century is more entrenched than ever.

Don’t be fooled. America lost, again. But on the other hand don’t fret, our murderous leaders will quickly identify new enemies to attack. It’s who we are and what we do.
