The Goleta City Council will vote on setting a goal of 100% renewable energy by 2030. Let them know you support renewable energy! Send comments to the City Clerk dlopez@cityofgoleta.org and show up at the city council meeting in support. Signs encouraged.

NOTE: City Council meeting starts at 1:30, but this item will likely not come up until 2:30 so probably safe to come at that time.

Hurricanes and wildfires are just the latest reminders of our rapidly warming climate and the risks if we don’t take immediate action to reduce emissions by transitioning from fossil fuels to renewable sources of energy. Here’s a chance to do our part locally.

Since Santa Barbara became the 30th city in the nation to set a 100% renewable energy goal last June, twenty additional cities around the nation have done so, including surprising additions like St. Louis, home of Peabody Coal. The ski town of Truckee near Tahoe (at risk of losing its snow) is the latest to do so.

Some cities have already achieved 100% renewable energy so we know it’s possible. Let’s add Goleta to this rapidly growing list and take change into our own hands.

If you can’t attend, email Goleta City Council members and share why the goal of 100% renewable matters to you. For a list of email addresses and a few talking points you can use in your email, visit Community Environmental Council (CEC).
